Many are the mysteries surrounding the Emerald Dream and its reclusive guardians, the green dragonflight. In times past, druids have entered the Dream to monitor the ebb and flow of life on Azeroth in their never-ending quest to maintain the delicate balance of nature. However, not all dreams are pleasant ones. Recently the Emerald Nightmare, an area of corruption within the Emerald Dream, began growing in size, transforming the Dream into a realm of unimaginable horror. This book was amazing. I agree with a previous post that the author really took his time to learn the locations and NPCs in the game. I read the 'War of the Ancients" archive and was so impressed with Knaak and how he took the lore and brought it to life and this book just further impressed me. I would recommend this book to anyone who plays W.o.W or just wants a good book with lots of adventure, danger and an extremely tolerable love story.

I played Warcraft III for at about 7 years and I'm a WoW player now. I've read many Warcraft and WoW books. So I can say I now a little about World of warcraft lore. And the interesting thing is: this is really not important in this case. No matter if there are a lot of WoW lore in this book, because, with all due respect for the writer, the book is very boring. I stoped in the middle.

I don't know WHY Blizzard keeps hiring Knaak but it's a HUGE mistake. The only reason I continued reading this book is for the love of the characters, Malfurion and Tyrande, and because I had absolutely NOTHING to do.
His writing style is so difficult to follow and left me frustrated throughout the entire book. If you can get this book for a dollar and have unlimited time on your hands, then go for it.
I've read every WOW book, this is by far the worst. July 14, 2010

The books terribly abuses lore for the sake of the authors personal Mary sue characters.
It's also incredibly boring and repetitive. 400 pages of "Heroes attack fog, fail and retreat!"
Finally, the cliche manner that the heroes beat any villain by "digging deep" made me roll my eyes every few pages. This isn't Dragonball Z.

I must say, Knaack's writing was a serious disappointment. I've been reading fantasy and sci-fi since 1985, when I first read the hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and I've read major writers over the years (Assimov, Jordon, Weber, etc.) and I've have to rate Stormrage's writing near the bottom. I was a bit surprised, given how many books he's already written in the series. I have a problem with writers in love with their own work, and Knaack definitely is fully in love with his pen. This book was very difficult to get through, and but provided some great lore background.
